With alarming frequency, headlines in all forms of media are fronting stories about unthinkable incidents
of domestic violence, random attacks and hate crimes or institutional abuses against the most vulnerable
in society. More and more persons with disabilities have become victims of these physical abuses, while
many of them have been subjected to emotional, psychological or financial abuse for years.
Should such facts shock us or should we be more shocked at a survey in the UK found that a majority of people questioned responded that they think persons with disabilities are 'inferior'? We have compiled a number of reports in this Special Series as we chronicle this ongoing victimization and what, if anything,
is being done about it. And we invite you to send us your thoughts on this to info@LauraAndWagner.com
